Getting started

Setting up your family

Create a parent account in the app, add each child, and set their chores and lock schedule. To turn a child's phone into a managed device, open ChoreGate on that phone, choose "This is my kid's phone," and scan the setup QR code shown on your (the parent's) device. A parent completes this pairing and grants the required permissions.

Locking & unlocking apps

ChoreGate uses Apple's built-in Family Controls (Screen Time) to lock apps on the child's device when chores aren't done, at bedtime, or when you lock manually. When the child completes their chores, their apps unlock automatically. We never see which apps your child uses or their browsing history — only whether the lock is on or off.

Common questions

My child's apps didn't lock

Make sure ChoreGate is installed on the child's phone (not just the parent's), the child-device setup was completed, and Family Controls (Screen Time) permission was granted on that phone. Reopen the app on the child's device to re-sync.

Location isn't updating

Location is optional and only shared with the parent. Confirm the child's phone granted ChoreGate location access. Location is used for geofence "left home/school" alerts and parent-initiated "find my child" checks.

Managing your subscription

ChoreGate Premium is billed through your Apple ID. Manage or cancel any time in Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions. Refunds are handled by Apple.

Deleting your account & data

In the app, go to Settings → Delete Account. This permanently removes your account and all associated family and child data. You can also email privacy@choregate.io and we'll delete it promptly.

Privacy & safety

ChoreGate is built for families and follows children's-privacy best practices. Read our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. For privacy requests, contact privacy@choregate.io; to report a security issue, security@choregate.io.

Still stuck? Email support@choregate.io with your account email and a description of the problem, and we'll get you sorted.
